My dad was a surfer before he had children. He even used to make surfboards. A few years ago, he was diagnosed with cancer and right before he died, I bought him this book. It was amazing to watch him flip through the pages and the light that would come to his eyes when he would see the waves and the beautiful images of the ocean. I was so grateful to be able to buy something like this for him to give him those memories before he passed.

This is a very impressive book from the standpoint of its content and artistic presentation. Also, the Chinese-style binding gives this book a beautiful and distinguished appearance which will definitely add to any collection of Chinese works. However, there is one major typographical flaw that I must point out. The Index to Hexagrams at pages 94-95 contains a significant typographical error. Specifically, at page 95 the "lower trigram" located near the top right corner of this page is incorrect. This trigram is incorrectly identified as "yang, yin, yang." The noted lower trigram should instead be identified as "yang, yin, yin." This may seem like an insignificant error, but the Index to Hexagrams is used to convert a divination hexagram to an index number that is then used to access the correct hexagram chapter of the reference book for I Ching advice. If the index is wrong, then the access to the I Ching is also wrong.As a point of information, a correct index chart is printed on an inexpensive laminated I Ching bookmark that can be obtained on the Etsy website by accessing "AnswerQuest." Photos of this bookmark are attached. My thought is that the bookmark could be inserted in the book as an easy means to correct the index error, as opposed to defacing the book with a written correction. Bottom line, this book is beautiful and would make a fine addition to any I Ching collection, with the noted correction for its Index to Hexagrams.
