I usually love the Lonely Planet "Discover" series books, but this one truly missed the mark. The main map in the front of the book isn't broken down by sections/colors like other Discover books, and the very few suggested itineraries are a disappointment. These are two huge reasons why I buy these books in the first place. My other problem with this book is the information provided for transportation between cities. Yes, it gives some suggestions, but I still feel a bit lost. There is some useful information in there for sure, but I will most certainly need additional resources before booking my trip. I may buy the previous Discover Thailand version of this book in hopes that most of it isn't outdated and that it has better suggestions.
Lonely Planet never disappoints! We love the little maps, quips and suggestions in this book! Cannot wait to use it in Thailand! The LP Thailand beaches is free on Kindle and plan on using it too!
Can,t believe this is genuine, have been buying these for past 30 years this is worst ever, way below Lonely Planet standards. Waste of money.
easy to read and follow
I found this book extremely easy to use and it had excellent suggestions. There are multiple maps throughout and the book is divided into city. It also offers suggestions for different trip ideas depending on the length you are able to go. These suggestions are both for an entire trip to Thailand, as well as by each city in Thailand.
I was on a preplanned trip and used the guide for my free time. It worked for this purpose but it is not enough info to design a full trip with.
Very thorough and contains a lot of very helpful information.

In October 2018, I took a road trip on the west half of Route 66. I had never been to Arizona or the Grand Canyon before, so as part of my research for my trip, I picked up the GRAND CANYON THE COMPLETE GUIDE. I have to say, I was quite pleased with the information contained within. The book is full of information about all the different sites to see around the Grand Canyon as well as historical information, geology of the different formations, wildlife in the area, and much more. The book is filled with colored photographs and maps. I found this book really useful and will use it again if I ever return to the Grand Canyon.

This is a well-written guide, with plenty of pictures, provided links (text or e-book), & common sense types of info (activities & things to do divided into sections, a chapter on the South Rim and another on the North Rim, a chapter on the river...and on). You can jump to whatever chapter meets your needs at the time to plan your trip a little or learn more (geology, Native Americans, history, and damming the river, etc.).If you need one book to start with - get this one.
This book was very helpful. It had lots of tips, history, stories, and maps to make your trip to the Grand Canyon even better. It also has beautiful pictures. I was very glad I got it.
I haven't visited Grand Canyon yet, but have a trip planned later this year. I haven't read this book cover to cover yet as my trip is several months off, but it is packed with info and history for all things Grand Canyon. I've used it several times already as a reference for planning my trip.
