I really enjoyed this book. It has all the things you expect from a Michael Anderle book, minus some of the more adult things since this is YA fiction. The only thing I'm somewhat confused on is is this a separate universe, or is it part of one of the others Mr. Andrew has written in. Other than that I look forward to reading the next book.

Well, I admit it. I have been reading your books but have not written any reviews. But you suckered me in with this one. First in a series! Cool! Just released not as cool. I now have to wait for another book and you have so many queues. So, the need to encourage you. This is a story with depth and purpose. Yes, the ideals she has remind me of BA. Not a bad thing. It was not age defined just an engrossing read with characters you care about. As always a cliffhanger, you are diabolical.

I am so mad, just as the story started getting interesting it ended. Want more of Stephanie and Todd. Cannot wait for Stephanie to gain better control. Really good.

I enjoyed the story and characters immensely. I really hope for several follow-up books to watch the characters develop. The mix of magic and science is just right.

Michael izzint boring with his world building. He has fleshed the characters within well. Funzies will entail when you enter his digital restaurant.

I’ve been reading Michael Anderle’s books since “Death Becomes Her”, and this is another very enjoyable read. Lots of action, magic, and character building. Can’t wait for the next one to find out what Stephanie gets in to....

North - Such an amazing book by Scott and Jenny Jurek. Thank you for sharing your ups and downs, highs and lows, grit and tenacity to follow your dream! Thank you for not giving up and walking it in. Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us.I followed Scott and Jenny on social media in 2015, when he was tackling the AT. I caught up with him in Duncannon, PA, and snapped this selfie on the run. I couldn’t wait for the book to come out and it certainly didn’t disappoint.If you are looking for a dose of inspiration, this book is some serious medicine. Scott shows the importance of not giving up on yourself and also how critical it is to surround yourself with others who will tell it to you straight. So many great takeaways and lessons from this book!

Scott Jurek is an inspiration ad always, but his wife is the glue that holds this whole book (and trip) together. I have nothing but admiration for them both after reading the story of how. Scott had always seemed like a superman. This story shows how human he is.

Easy read and pretty entertaining if you're a fan of Scott or the AT. The constant references to him being vegan and the last 25% of the book being anticlimactic gives it a 3.

I have read the majority of ultra-endurance books for sale on Amazon. I loved Mr. Jurek's first book, but felt that it left me wanting for the raw details of his struggles during specific races. He gave some awesome training advice, packed the book full of vegan recipes, and detailed some of his greatest achievements. Yet somehow, it seemed impersonal or maybe immature ((not Scott himself, but the book (Eat & Run) as a whole)). But this book is on a totally different wavelength. I was gripped from the start, and looked forward to every evening after work so I could keep reading. I was riveted by the rawness of the story, and intrigued by how different the writing style and content was from Mr. Jurek's first book. This book opened a window into his personal life and struggle, and I felt like I was with him through the incredible test of endurance posed by the AT record attempt. This is awesome, as well worth your time if you have any interest in such things. My hat is off to Scott, this easily deserves to be called his greatest achievement yet (both in literary and endurance realms).

This book pushes home the point that to really push our limits and discover what we can achieve, we need to suffer. As a runner this is something I am reminded of every morning but Jurek pushed it to the limit. The interweaving of Scott and Jenny Jurek's perspectives is very entertaining. The trail stories could use a little more descriptive banter, but that may be because the author was somewhat delirious from his efforts!

The title says it all - this book chronicles Jurek's 2015 attempt at the Appalachian Trail FKT (fastest known time). He made the attempt with a tremendous amount of help from his wife Jenny and some friends. Every chapter ends with Jenny's point of view on things as well which provides not only interesting external perspective on Jurek but also some insight on the simultaneously monumental undertaking required to assist with an endeavor of this scope.He's an incredible athlete - it's amazing to what extremes he is able to push himself. I also found the book refreshingly honest from both Scott and Jenny's view points with regards to their struggles in life and the difficulties of tackling a very personal endeavor for them in an incredibly open, social-media way. If anything, despite Jurek already being so open and inviting, I think it just makes us all want to know even more about what's going on his life. He's just such a likable guy that you want to know more about all the gossip he alludes to in his books. This was a "criticism" some had about Eat & Run - we all wanted to know the nitty gritty of his divorce!Understandably, for a man who already shares and opens up so much, it seems he tries to balance this with his level of comfort as to how much he wishes to reveal. Nevertheless, being huge fans our gossip-mongering hearts always yearn for more. I honestly think a lot of us, myself included, just want to hear more from him about his divorce and how it affected him - to learn how a man with the capacity to endure the tempests of physical human suffering made it through what is generally a very devastating life event.I would give the book 4.5 stars if I could - the half star off solely because I continue to yearn to know even more about his life.Suffice it to say, I won't fault him for not going more in-depth, but I mention this all because it's possible, like me, you will read North and enjoy it and enjoy getting to know Scott Jurek, but you may also find yourself wanting even more depth and insight. It is otherwise an interesting read about attempting the AT (which I have never done myself). I did not realize what a harrowing challenge it is and the unique dangers of each portion of the trail.It has been a while since I read Eat & Run but I believe I enjoyed it a bit more (including the wonderful recipes at the end of each chapter). Of course that book and this are about two different times in his life. North is definitely motivational. No doubt that many pieces of it will play through my mind in the future to provide strength and inspiration during difficult times. Thank you Scott and Jenny for sharing this very personal endeavor with the world - both back then in the moment and now.

It is a wonderful book. Interesting and exciting. I knew he had set the record but I couldn't see how it was going to happen! Great detail, but not too much. I started out listening to the audio version and I'm glad I had a chance to get a read on the personalies that way. However it was just too slow going. JLu is hard to understand for an aging male who is missing higher frequencies :-)

I love this book. It kept me interested and gave me a nice spark of motivation to accomplish something great.

This book is full of gospel truth. She can get a bit repetitive, though. I appreciate that it is saturated with scripture. I can see where this book would really speak to some women where they are at and how they are struggling to get their arms around a broader, eternal view of motherhood. She has some practical applications but not many. I liked Glimpses of Grace much better.

This book is packed with solid theology and practical application of that theology. It would be helpful for anyone to read but is obviously geared toward mothers. I appreciate that she never idolizes motherhood or romanticizes it. The chapters are short enough to read in about 10 minutes and they're well worth your time. Just buy the book.

Well-written, absolutely brimming with Scriptures throughout the text incorporating the truth of our real identities with present day struggles. I am very encouraged by the author's openness with her own journey of being sanctified, as well as encouraged by the simple and fundamental truth that all of our parenting boils down to the Gospel. Who we are in Jesus, how we are growing to be more like Him in ministering His likeness to our kids, is so much more important than any parenting style/philosophy. The author does not beat this fact into the reader, but it is I believe a central truth that has most impacted me in reading this book.

As a mother of 6 this book kept me coming back for more grace-filled perspective on the realities of motherhood and how the gospel applies specifically to me as a mother. It was equally challenging/convicting as it was uplifting and encouraging! I couldn't put it down and that is saying something because I don't naturally find time to read in great length much any more. I chapters are broken up and easy to put down and come back to. I enjoyed the author's down to earth and easy to read writing style. She is mindful to share stories and supports her writing with appropriately applied scripture. This book is a great jumping off point to further study in the Word.

I have 4 kids of my own and a foster child in our home. Saying my hands are full is an understatement. Gloria Furman understands. She graciously and gently pushes me back towards the gospel, even on the hardest days. My life isn't about me. It's about Jesus. My kids need to see and learn that daily.

In a sea of Christian parenting books, this book is a rare treasure. It is solidly based on the Word of God and draws weary, tired mothers back to the Gospel over and over again. A constant reminder that our hope is never in nap times, folded laundry or tidy homes but always in our Lord Jesus Christ who saves us from our sin. It is a must read, and I will likely read it over and over again.

What a wonderful, refreshing, Christ-filled book. This book really opened my eyes afresh to the glory of God's grace as demonstrated in the gospel. It is so real, so manageable, so full of meat that even five minutes' worth of reading left me with good things to meditate on. I bought 10 copies to give to my mom friends!

Lonely Planet "Colorado" divides the state up into five logical regions, and provides fairly broad coverage. The maps are useful, as are the descriptions of top 25 attractions and suggested itineraries. For the most part I found the descriptions of accommodations and dining to be spot-on. This was our main travel book for two multi-week trips around this beautiful state. We particularly marveled at the beauty of the San Juan Skyway region, and the book provides good coverage of this area.

A year ago, I found Lonely Planet’s Arizona very helpful, so when planning a trip to Colorado I purchased this right away. I haven’t found it very helpful- very little info about national parks, hiking; even popular destinations like Colorado Springs are barely covered. If you need restaurant/ lodging recs I guess this book is helpful.. I use trip advisor for that. I recently ordered the new edition of Fodor’s Colorado (Feb 2019 edition)- it’s SO MUCH BETTER!

Well-written, lots of "best of" lists for different kinds of trips. Manages to hit the highlights in an accessible way, while also allowing you to go more in-depth on history and "off the beaten path" adventures. Highly recommended.

Underwhelming

I have come to rely on Lonely Planet and have used their guide books for England, Eastern Canada, Norway, New England, and Colorado. I have yet to be disappointed.Traveling to the Rocky Mountains where I spent a lot of time as a kid, I decided to approach the area as if I had never been there. I bought a book on easy day hikes in the park, a map of the park, and this guide. We spent a week outside of Estes Park and used this exclusively when looking for dining options and it didn't lead me astray. We also used this for some day trips (Glen Haven, Peak to Peak Hwy) and it was spot-on. Estes Park flooded in 2013 and during the rebuilding, there were some changes to the town which I wasn't aware of but LP did a great job explaining and I ended up wandering the riverwalk behind the shops as a result - not sure I would have found it otherwise.While we stayed at the lodge I have been going to for years, I looked up a couple of the nearby lodges to see what was recommended, and I wouldn't hesitate a moment to take the recommendations.As always, LP came through !

When I've got a Tom Tierney coloring book, I know I'm in for a world of fashion fun. I own several of Mr. T.'s coloring books - and have enjoyed all of them immensely.I always have a creative blast with Tom's coloring books. He draws each person as an individual with interesting expressions and body language which I find invites me to create dialog for the character, especially since there are usually two figures per page.Tom also supplies interesting facts about the fashions being worn and the time period.The fashions and figures are always very well drawn. Some of the designs are intricate, if a child finds the smaller lines difficult to manage, I would suggest just color over the design/pattern on the clothes--it will still look wonderful--if you use something which allows the design to show through the color.I do them with markers that won't bleed through, and colored chalk applied with Q-tips.An ideal coloring book for anyone who enjoys coloring people and costumes/clothes.Highly recommended.

As a coloring book, this book is great, just like all the other books in this series; however, there are historical inaccuracies on some of the pages (e.g. a drawing of an Orthodox Christian "priest" which is actually of a bishop; a drawing of a bishop in Western style vestments and not Orthodox). In other words, kids of all ages, enjoy the coloring part, but take the historical part with a grain of salt and check other sources before you cite this book in your term papers! ;)

Excellent, simplistic depictions of clothing worn during a little know period of Western history. Many of the pictures are modern renditions of originals from manuscripts, mosaics,icons, etc.

Things people might want to know about this book...- Pictures are printed on both sides of the pages- Some of the small details (like the patterns on some of the clothes) look a little bit sloppy.- There is information about the pictures printed underneath each image.- The pages aren't perforated so they would be harder to remove from the book.

This book features beautifully executed illustrations of both male and female Byzantine fashions from the empire's many ages. Adapted from works of late-antique and medieval art, the drawings present emperors, aristocrats, townspeople, country people, clerics, and soldiers. The introduction gives an overview of terms pertaining to Byzantine clothing. Explanatory notes, including reference to the time period and to the class of individuals represented, accompany each drawing. Finally, the closing pages contain small depictions of the various hats, hairstyles, and footwear worn throughout Byzantium's long millennium. A valuable resource for students of Byzantine history, and a genuine visual treat.

I got this for my daughter, as she was studying Byzantine times. She thought the clothing in the coloring book was beautiful and got straight to work coloring. I suppose and adult would have fun too!
